Barker’s Landing

Barker’s Landing is located off I-10 in west Houston’s Energy Corridor. The neighborhood is comprised of three subdivisions: Barker’s Landing, Barker’s Court and Barker’s Place. There are more than 400 homes total, with homes in both traditional and contemporary styles.

Founded in 1972 on 120 acres of land, it was originally named La Cour Du Roi (The King’s Yard) but was renamed soon after when a new developer took over construction. The townhouses, patio homes and single-family houses were built between 1977 and 1989, with the median year for construction at 1981. Single-family homes average four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, with median square footage at 3,216 and median lot square footage at 8,395.

Each subdivision has its own homeowners’ association. Yearly fees pay for common area utilities, irrigation and other expenses, as well as for maintenance of the swimming pool and tennis courts. Fees also cover a 24 hour security patrol.

The neighborhood has a strong sense of community, thanks in part to its social club, which holds events throughout the year and publishes a newsletter and directory. Neighbors also gather to cheer on the Barker’s Landing youth swim team.

The subdivision’s location makes it desirable to employees in the energy industry. They also appreciate the area’s lush surroundings, which include 50 miles of parks and trails. Highly ranked Katy schools are a draw, as are the abundant entertainment, shopping and dining options. Downtown and its many offerings are only a 20-mile drive down I-10.
