Thornwood

NEARLY 400 houses comprise Thornwood, located on both the east and west sides of Eldridge Parkway in the Memorial area of west Houston. Properties in the southwest portion of the subdivision sit adjacent to
Buffalo Bayou.

The mix of contemporary, traditional, ranch and Colonial homes dates back to the ‘60s and ‘70s, with a median year built of 1968. Median square footage is 2,790. Lot median square footage comes in at a spacious 8,625, with many yards featuring mature trees and landscaping.

There are an average of four bedrooms and two bathrooms in the subdivision. Students are zoned to Katy or Spring Branch independent school district, depending on their address. Deed restrictions apply, as
governed by the Thornwood Fund.

Thornwood has a community clubhouse that residents can rent. There are also two community pools, accessible via a membership available to residents as well as a limited number of non-residents. The Thornwood Sharks Swim Team, which practices at the pools, is the oldest community-based youth swim team in the Energy Corridor.

Its location within the corridor makes it an attractive subdivision for those who work in the industry. The corridor also offers plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment options, with nearby Terry Hershey and George Bush parks providing easily accessible hiking, biking and boating areas. Downtown Houston is a 17- mile trip via I-10.
