Located just 23 miles northwest of downtown Houston lies the city of Tomball, Texas, a great town with a ‘small country’ feel and large, open spaces surrounded by towering trees and winding roads.
Although it’s close to Houston, it is far from being a suburb. Tomball has been around for 90 years, first as a railroad town, and later as an oil town. The community’s name was given in honor of State Senator Thomas Henry Ball in 1907 because of his influence in establishing Tomball as a railroad center for the transport of agricultural products. An oil boom hit Tomball when a 100 foot gusher was brought in during 1933, attracting hundreds of new residents. Local residents received free natural gas for over 50 years in exchange for exclusive rights by Humble Oil and Gas to drill within
the city.
The major freeway that extends well past Tomball, known as Highway 249, has now been extended, luring even more visitors to this quiet community. As the community grows, many new builder subdivisions have begun to appear throughout the town and older subdivisions steadily increase in value from the new influx of buyers to the area.
The scope of housing choices in the area is broad with new custom homes, new production-builder homes, apartments, rental homes and resales. Tomball is also known as an area where numerous equestrian-oriented subdivisions are available with large amounts of land.
In this small town community of homes, residents enjoy the serenity of a peaceful, country setting while remaining just minutes away from Willowbrook Mall, fine dining, and so much more! Functioning as a commercial center for a large portion of Houston’s rapidly growing
northwest quadrant, the Tomball area has developed a strong economic base: HP, Kwik Kopy Corporation, Friendswood Development, BJ Services and many other companies.
Tomball is also home to its very own independent school district. No wonder it’s one of the fastest growing communities around. Come and experience Tomball…you’ll never want to leave!
