More than 500 homes make up the FLEETWOOD subdivision, located in the Memorial area of west Houston, just to the east of Highway 6. Most were built in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, with the median construction year
being 1978. Contemporary and traditional are the leading architectural styles.
Median square footage comes in at 3,258, with large lots at a median square footage of 8,400. The single-family houses average four bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. Deed restrictions do apply, as governed by the
Fleetwood Property Owners Association. The association hosts a variety of clubs to engage the community, among them the Fleetwood Fun Group
that meets for lunch, happy hour and other outings. The Garden Club hands out yard-of-the-month awards, and kids gather for a regular playgroup. The POA also puts on a fall festival each year with live music, a parade and other family-friendly activities. Security patrol, camera system
and crime reports, which run in the bi-monthly newsletter, all contribute to neighborhood safety.
Fleetwood’s proximity to the Energy Corridor attracts industry employees who want a short commute but also easy access to downtown, just 20 miles away via I-10. Students are zoned for Katy Independent School District.
George Bush Park sits just across Highway 6 from the subdivision, offering hiking, biking and boating. Residents need only head north to enjoy the Energy Corridor District’s many dining and shopping opportunities.
